College majors are not all alike when it comes to salary students can expect when they enter the workforce. A new interactive graphic from the Chronicle of Higher Education on-line gives a detail view of salaries by major and by careers within the major.
“This makes a great resource for students to understand what they are getting for their college dollar,” Steve Buser, director of the Southeast Texas P-16 Council said.
Another study from the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce has interactive tables on the various majors, including salaries, popularity of the degree, percent obtaining a degree in the major and more. The full report “What’s It Worth: The Economic Value of College Majors“ contains more information on majors and their effects on those obtaining degrees.

There were 12 career classes ranging from Solar Energy and Instrumentation to Nursing and Pharmacy Tech. Fourteen Junior High or Intermediate schools from the region participated.
The students were all in 7th or 8th grade, the age at which students begin looking at career choices, choices of high school courses and what they want to study in college or in other post-secondary careers studies (trade school [such as ABC], military, apprenticeship, etc.)
