There were 1,309 high school students in the Golden Triangle last year taking Dual Credit , AP./IB or Advanced Placement CTE courses.
The data was provided by the Texas Education Agency and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).
The data showed a break down of 358 African Americans, 67 Asians, 104 Hispanics, and 780 White students were taking the advanced courses. Of those, nearly a third, 417, were economically disadvantaged students.
THECB supplies data to the regional P-16 councils each year, to help them key track of progress towards Texas’ “Closing the Gaps” goals. The data are also useful for targeting efforts of the P-16 council toward the most critical needs.
