Southeast Texas P-16 Council

Lamar Institute of Technology ranks second in the nation in the number of Science Technologies and Technicians Associates degrees (ST/T) it awarded last year.   The study shows LIT with 88 of these Associate Degrees for the 2008-2009 school year  — a 49% increase over the year before.

Coming in third, fourth and fifth place in the national rankings were three other nearby colleges in Texas : College of the Mainland (55),  Lee College (50), and  San Jacinto Community College  (46).

Lamar State College Orange moved up to 22nd in this category awarding 16 of the ST/T Associate degrees, up from 14 the year before.

The largest producer in the ST/T category was College of Southern Nevada with  95 awards.

Lamar Institute of Technology awarded degrees and certificates to almost 400 candidates for the Spring 2010 Semester

Texas State University System Regent David Montagne assistant manager for the Sabine River Authority of Texas, was the commencement speaker.
