Lamar State College-Port Arthur recognized 22 honor graduates its Spring 2010 Commencement in the Carl Parker Center.
The college presented 100 associate degrees and 16 technical certificates to 108 students during the event. Eight students earned two associate degrees.
Several graduation awards were announced, including the Sydalise Fredeman Awards, which go to the student with the highest grade point average in an associate of applied science degree program and to the student with the highest GPA in a technical certificate program.
The degree-level Fredeman Award went to three students who completed their associate degrees with perfect 4.0 grade point averages – Janice Lea Marshall of Orangefield (accounting), Caled Corley Wallace of Groves (commercial music – sound engineering technology) and Walter Jeffery Williams of Port Neches (process technology).
Williams also won the North Port Arthur Rotary Club Memorial Award, which recognizes the top industrial technology graduate.
Esther Gibson of Port Arthur, who majored in medical office assistant, won the certificate program Fredeman Award.
Moriah Emily Spiri of Groves received the H.S. Anderson Award, which goes to the nursing graduate with the highest GPA.
